I found that I have deleted very important file(photo). It was deleted BEFORE Odboso FileRetrieval(PhotoRetrieval) was installed on my computer. Is it possible to restore it?
Yes, if the file has not already been written over (by some other files), you can recover it.

I have deleted a file(photo). How long do I have before data recovery is no longer possible?

It is not possible to predict a time like this in hours or days. Microsoft Windows can overwrite a deleted file immediately if it selects the same data clusters.
To maximize recovery chances try not to write anything onto the drive where a deleted file is located before you start using Odboso FileRetrieval(PhotoRetrieval).

Is it always possible to recover my missing, deleted or lost files?

Not always. When you delete file from your hard drive, Windows makes the space occupied by the deleted file available for use. If a new file is saved to the same area of the hard drive it will overwrite the deleted files contents, permanently erasing it. This is why we recommend that you limit the use of your hard drive from which the file needs to be recovered.

What does deleted file status(Poor, Good and Excellent) mean? How can I know which file can be recovered?

The file status shows the minimum proven damage of a deleted file. The actual file condition may be worse, but files with "Excellent" status can be recovered 100% almost. Files with "Poor" status might be recovered, but usually cannot and files with "Good" status have a better chance to be recovered.

What should I do immediately after accidental erasure to ensure that I can recover those files(photos)?

The most important thing is to prevent the erased file(photos) from being overwritten by another file(photo).
To do so, avoid any use of the disk(memory card or usb disk) where the file(photo) was erased, until after the erased file(photo) is recovered. Also, remember that Odboso FileRetrieval should not be installed to this disk.

Why is recovery to the same disk not recommended?

Recovery to the same disk may overwrite the very segments of the disk that you're trying to recover files from. That will not leave you another recovery chance.

Can I do something in advance to increase my chances of file(photo) recovery?

Yes, keep your disk(memory card or usb disk) in good shape by regularly defragmenting it.

Why do files with "Good" Status appear unreadable after recovery and why can't I use them?

Status shows the minimum proven damage of a file. The actual file condition may be worse, but files with "Excellent" Status can be recovered 100% almost.
